Installing Workspace on Windows - Setting Environment Variables
Set the following environment variables. WORKSPACE_HOME should be set permanently, but CLASSPATH, which is used only during installation, can be set temporarily e.g. by using "set" command.

Gives the Workspace installation directory.
For example C:\workspace

The Java class path. CLASSPATH must include at least the JDBC driver.
For example C:\Program Files\mysql-connector-java-5.0.8\mysql-connector-java-5.0.8-bin.jar

The variables are set using a provided Windows tool

The tool is found in
Start -> Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> System -> Advanced -> Environment Variables
(or Start -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Environment Variables in the classic Control Panel view)
Under the User Variables for Administrator, click New and give name and value for each variable:

Name Value (example)
WORSPACE_HOME C:\workspace
CLASSPATH C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 5.5\shared\lib\mysql-connector-java-5.0.8-bin.jar

Now you have the necessary platform softwares installed and required environment variables set and you can run the Workspace installer.
